澳门2023全年正版免费资料 members are invited to take part in the Hong Kong x London Urban Planning Symposium via Zoom. The Symposium will take place 18th April 2024 (Thursday) starting from 10:00am to 4:30pm (UK local time), i.e. from 7:00pm on 18th April to 1:30am on 19th April (AEST).

The Planning Symposium compares and contrasts the vision and implementation of strategic planning in Hong Kong and London. With “Hong Kong 2030+: Towards a Planning Vision and Strategy Transcending 2030” and the London Plan 2021, planning options and policy interventions in both cities have been shaped by higher level directions, as well as local context that offers a more flexible environment to trial and error. The two cities’ strategic plans show their effort in combating climate change, enhancing ecological low carbon, and tackling socio-economic disparity.

The morning session (7:00pm – 9:30pm AEST) will comprise two thematic presentations by:

Prof. Mike RACO, Chair of Urban Governance and Development, The Bartlett School of Planning, University College London “Strategic Planning Policies and Planning Challenges in London as a Mega Global City” (30 min); and

Mr. Matt LALLY, Associate Director of ARUP’s Integrated City Planning Team in London “Strategic Planning for Growth and Regeneration” (30 min).

This will be followed by a roundtable discussion on strategic planning in London and insights for both cities (45 min). It will summarise the take-aways from the thematic presentations from the UK experts, and also focus on actionable, practical planning and development strategies for both world-class cities sharing similar challenges in the new era. Panellists will include:

Ms. Jane Healey BROWN, Director of Planning, ARUP;
