Manager, Development Planning
About the role
In this key role of Manager, Development Planning, you will lead the Development Planning Branch in the delivery of development assessment functions and a diverse range of projects. In doing so, you will be expected to drive continuous improvement of integration and optimisation of planning and service delivery across the following functions:
- All development application and assessment services (from advice through to decision making and appeals)
- Infrastructure charging and Infrastructure Agreements
- Compliance related to unlawful development and development approvals, and
- Survey plan processes, asset naming and numbering of lots, searches and records
You will join the leadership team assisting the General Manager (Planning and Regulatory Services) in the departments’ setting and achievement of Corporate and Operational Plan objectives consistent with Council’s strategic direction.
This role also offers a rare opportunity to be a critical part of the implementation of a new planning scheme and LGIP. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively to set Council up for the future using a modern planning scheme, which is pivotal to the success of the role, and the future of our city.
About you
To be a critical part of our future growth as a city, you will have:
- Relevant professional qualification and/or substantial equivalent experience, preferably in the field of town planning
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with a focus on delivering projects and functions with a government or other relevant organisation
- Management and leadership experience and qualities to support and coach positive team outcomes
- Change management experience, including in the space of continuous improvement
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with a proven ability to effectively manage diverse stakeholder relationships and influence outcomes, and
- Belief in our values of communication, collaboration, integrity, efficiency, and leadership
