The Women’s Planning Network, in collaboration with our event sponsor Urbis, is proud to be hosting our next event which focusses on a critical issue: homelessness and its profound impact on women.
We acknowledge that homelessness is not just a matter of lacking shelter; it is a complex social challenge that disproportionately affects women, and in particular women over 55 which is the fastest growing demographic experiencing homelessness in Australia.
From escaping domestic violence to facing economic instability, women experiencing homelessness encounter a myriad of obstacles that demand our urgent attention and action.
We are honoured to be joined by a distinguished panel of experts who will shed light on the multifaceted nature of this crisis and explore innovative solutions to support and empower women in our communities. Together, they will engage in a meaningful dialogue to drive change and create a future where every woman has a safe and secure place to call home.
50% of the proceeds will be donated to Women’s Property Initiatives.
Women's Property Initiatives
Women’s Property Initiatives (WPI) is a not-for-profit that develops and provides affordable long-term housing for vulnerable single women and single women with children. WPI works with the private, public and community sectors to develop housing which is rented at no more than 75% of the market rate or 30% of household income.
Many of the WPI beneficiaries are women who have experienced domestic violence, whilst others are from culturally diverse backgrounds or are leaving the correctional system. Obtaining safe, long-term housing has had a very profound effect on the lives of these women and their families, enabling them to live with dignity and contribute to their communities.
