Don’t look now, but UrbanTech change is on the horizon, and the change is going to offer the planning profession new opportunity like we are seeing with the PlanTech agenda.
But like many advancements in digital and data solutions brought to the market, there are opportunities to be gained when planners are intimately engaged, but equally undesirable impact if not well understood. And for some issues like wireless digital connectivity, the ability for planners to influence outcomes is changing substantially.
In this PlanTech webinar we unpack some critical issues relating to digital connectivity, technology deployment and public realm stewardship.
What might the roll out of 5G millimetre wave technology look like for our cities? As Australia transitions to a shared infrastructure model for mobile networks, how can planners become more engaged in planning for this connectivity? Adam Beck
Head of Digital Urbanism, ENE.HUB
Adam is an urbanist who has worked for private sector consultancies and leading global non-government organisations to advance sustainable community outcomes in cities around the world for almost 30 years.
He is Head of Digital Urbanism at ENE.HUB, an Indara Company, a role that has him working collaboratively with government and the private sector to realise the benefits of shared urban infrastructure in connecting, activating and measuring urban life.
Adam is Chair of the Standards Australia Digital Twin Working Group, Co-Chair of the Smart Places and Infrastructure Workstream at the Internet of Things Alliance Australia and is Co-host of the podcast ‘Digital Built Australia’.
Most recently Adam was Founding Executive Director of the Smart Cities Council Australia New Zealand, a role he had for 6 years.
Prior to this Adam was Director of Innovation at EcoDistricts in Portland (OR) in the USA, as well as previously holding the position of Executive Director at the Green Building Council of Australia.
Before entering the mission-driven sector Adam spent 15 years with global consulting firms Arup and GHD.
