The judges were impressed with the Talaroo Hot Springs Tourism Planning and Business Case and considering it an exceptional project supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people achieve their aspirations through planning. This project provides a leading example of how the planning profession can work with and for the indigenous community to support, facilitate and realise their vision and aspirations for Country.
The judges were impressed with the highly collaborative, Traditional Owner led strategic planning process that facilitated Ewamian people to identify their aspirations and, delivered an on-Country tourism experience. The success of this planning process, which spanned over a 5-year period, is evident in the achievements of Ewamian Limited in realising this self-determined aspiration to establish an Indigenous, on-Country tourism experience.
